Well done sir. I always imagined "Jack" as an Al Bundy type whose life peak was his high school football career, but you took that in a fun new direction.
Diane of course was always destined for greatness. I'll bet she still looks good in those jeans too ;)
This is great. Johnny Cougar Mellencamp was part of the soundtrack of my youth. Growing up in Indiana, I have a eaten a Tastee-Freez chili dog, worked in a decaying rust belt factory, gone to Bloomington for college, and made myself sick eating too many Michigan cherries on vacation at Crystal Lake in Traverse City. Thanks for this stroll down amnesia lane.
One of my favorite songs along with Seger’s Night Moves. She who must be obeyed is from Evansville and still has many relatives and friends there. I shared this wonderful story with her.
This was such a fun read. I wonder what happened to Journey’s “small town girl living in a lonely world” and “city boy born and raised in south Detroit”…

You know she did

I grew up in Michigan. Related quite a bit to that tune.
Where in the Mitten?
Born in “down river” in Trenton near the Ford plant. But raised in Farmington Hills since 3rd grade, about 40 min outside Detroit.
That’s fantastic. I’m in Royal Oak now. Born in Milwaukee Junction, joined the Navy, came home 24 years later.
No way! I’m in Birmingham now and frequent RO and Ferndale frequently. Coincidentally, I’m in Annapolis and visited the Naval Academy today!
This is spectacular
And btw, I’m exhausted and realized my replies are terribly written. Please excuse the mess.
He played a free show every spring at IU in Dunn Meadow in front of the student union. Those were the days
That sounds rad
So what happened to Billy Joe and Bobby Sue from "Take the Money and Run"?😂
A fine question. Let me get on that.
Cool! Can't wait!😁
Done. https://earcandyupdate.substack.com/p/the-fictional-rock-and-roll-where
I like what you did there. Like people watching but with a song. Cool.:)
Thank you!

Did she dig it?
damn bro, i just cried
My work here is done.
That's really good, and it works, somehow, to make them both improbably successful and still feel connected to the song.
I appreciate that.

Nice!😁
