Man, if only one of these guys (and it's almost always guys) could experience the sheer joy of seeing their kid enjoy the same records they did at that age.

Hearing something like "Man in the Box" thunder through my house doesn't make me sneer. "You weren't there." It makes me wish he had been.

I never thought of this ‘inverse gatekeeping’ before reading this. I typ associate it with new artists not older ones. Growing up with Metallica and Slayer as a teen, when I see a young fan of said bands, I like seeing that!

So do I. I get hype for them because new doors and pathways are gonna open, but what’s more… they’ll hear formative influences on modern music as well.

Aging rockers? Chicago on their 50th anniversary tour rocked. Ian Anderson live in his 70s on that flute? OMG, bring on those oldsters! I still want to see John Fogerty wail Fortunate Son live and I loved a Complete Unknown. I wish I hadn't downloaded all my physical media to the cloud, darn it! It's one m of my few regrets in life.

We introduced our daughter to our favorite music from back in the day via cd gifts and apologized that we couldn’t share with her the experience of unwrapping and putting on the turntable each new LP in anticipation of “what have they thought of now!”
